The Origins of Coffee NQ
Not to brag, but we think the CoffeeNQ story is pretty astounding! In 2014, our founders, Troy and Daniela Furner, began supplying coffee from their home garage here in Cairns. With a shared passion for providing exceptional coffee and service, they launched Coffee NQ alongside the opening of their very first café in the heart of the Cairns CBD on Oceana Walk, Blackbird Espresso Bar. In Cairns, word spreads quickly, and soon enough, people around town flocked to Blackbird – pun intended.
By 2016, they were able to open a dedicated warehouse along with a second café location, a major step forward that has enabled us to scale our wholesale operations and serve more cafés throughout the region. And in 2020, we entered our latest chapter when we were acquired by Sunshine Coast Coffee Roastery. This expansion has helped strengthen Coffee NQ’s resources, technical capabilities, and supply network, allowing us to deliver comprehensive specialty coffee solutions across North Queensland while staying true to our roots.
Troy and Daniela’s continued commitment to quality, consistency, and genuine customer connection has helped us grow from a small dream in a garage into the fast-growing wholesale specialty coffee suppliers that so many throughout Far North Queensland have come to love.
